Charles “Boo” Hagerty is the President of the Hamot Health Foundation which is the philanthropic organization that supports UPMC Hamot and many community health initiatives. He first joined UPMC Hamot in 2000 as the vice president of marketing and corporate communications and transitioned to vice president of strategic resources in 2009 overseeing marketing, corporate communications, community advocacy and patient services. He was named the vice president of northern tier markets for UPMC Health Plan in 2012 and served in that role for four years helping the health plan to further grow its market share in the northwest region of Pennsylvania.
In 2016, Boo rejoined the Hamot Health Foundation and along with a highly engaged board and team, HHF has driven many vital projects in the region including the launch of the Magee Women’s Research Institute, the Wayne School project, the UPMC Jameson School of Nursing at UPMC Hamot, Erie Center for Arts and Technology and the RecoveryisBeautful program. These, as well as many other initiatives, drive the mission of HHF which is to address and combat the social determinants of health care.
Boo has served as a volunteer and board member of many non-profits and organizations. He currently serves on the boards of ACES, Erie Bank, UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor and the Erie Center for Arts and Technology. Additionally, he is currently serving as co-chair of the Housing First Project Team under Infinite Erie and has demonstrated his leadership ability in shaping the narrative around a permanent supportive housing model in Erie County.
He has previously served two separate terms on the Erie Chamber and Growth Partnership and in both terms served as a member of the executive committee where he was instrumental in leading and driving change into the organization as one of the leaders in the community for economic development. Boo has served on many boards and organizations during his 37-year career and takes immense pride in being a great collaborator in helping each organization thrive and grow.
Boo received a bachelor's degree in advertising from West Virginia University and was the founding partner and owner of Fishtank Creative from 1989 – 2001. He is the proud husband of Aimee Hagerty and together they proudly keep up with the busy lives of their five children.
